Authentic Mexican Dansmasker – Hand-carved Wood – Sierra de Puebla (ca. 1950-1980)
An expressive Mexican folk-art mask from the mid-20th century. This hand-carved wooden mask is finished in a deep purple polychromy, characteristic of ceremonial figures from the Sierra de Puebla region.
Key features:
Manufacture: Skillfully carved from a single block of wood; the back shows authentic gouge marks and wear from use ("field-used").
Details: Equipped with a full beard and eyebrows made from natural fibers, traditionally woven with metal wire along the edge of the mask.
Eyes: Hand-carved eye socket openings, suited to an early or very traditional style.
Size: Height 20 cm x Width 15 cm
Condition: Good vintage condition with natural patina and light signs of aging (paint loss), confirming the authenticity and history of use of the object.
