Description from the seller
Floor-standing brass coat rack with onyx base – European production, mid-20th century
Elegant floor-standing coat rack made of brass, characterized by a slender line and refined decorative workmanship of classical taste.
The structure features a fluted shaft culminating in a central turned element, from which the upper arms develop harmoniously. These are finely embellished with embossed floral motifs and terminate with shaped hooks, paired with lower hooks that are more discreet but functional.
Particularly prized is the circular base in natural onyx, distinguished by suggestive translucence and elegant veining in shades of white, cream and pink. This material gives the piece a notable aesthetic impact as well as ensuring stability.
On the back of one of the upper elements there is an engraved mark:
“C.G.R. ART. 208 BREV.”, attributable to European industrial production in the mid-20th century.
Dimensions
• Height: 166 cm
• Base diameter: 34 cm
Balanced proportions, ideal for entrances and domestic spaces without being bulky.
Features
• Materials: brass and natural onyx
• Era: mid-20th century (approx. 1950–1970)
• Origin: Europe
• Finish: brass with original patina
• Base: polished, veined onyx
Conditions
In good overall condition, with normal signs of aging consistent with the age:
• mild patina and oxidation of the brass
• superficial marks on the onyx base
• stable and well-preserved structure
For shipping the item will be disassembled and is easily reassembled.
