Centrepiece - Late Baroque - Alpaca Silver-plated - Italian Craftsmanship

An exceptional centerpiece of Italian craftsmanship, made of high-gloss alpaca silverplated. The piece stands out for its fluid interpretation of the Baroque style, typical of the silversmithing workshops of northern Italy in the first half of the 20th century. The central body, with its deep and rhythmic fluting, is balanced by two monumental handles with open scrolls that lend a unique architectural elegance. -Origin: Italy (given the tradition in this type of silversmithing). -Style: Late Italian Baroque. Italian pieces of this type typically strive for fluidity. The handles not only decorate but also appear to organically "grow" from the fluted edge. It is a design that plays with visual lightness despite the robustness of the metal. -Period: First half of the 20th century (ca. 1900-1940). The transition between Art Nouveau and the revival of classical forms emerged after the First World War. In Italy, this period was characterized by the highest quality alpaca casting, which sought to emulate the silverware of 18th-century palaces. -Material: Alpaca (also known as German silver or Maillechort in France). -Technique: Hand-embossed and chased. The body features a gadrooned pattern (shaped like segments or petals) that creates a very attractive interplay of light and shadow on its polished surface. -Ornamentation: * Body: Oval gadrooned design with wavy edges. * Handles: Two impressive, large handles with acanthus scrolls and intertwined floral motifs that lend height and majesty. * Supports: Rests on four robust feet with stylized claw-like shapes and foliate details, which elevate the piece with stability. -Stamp/Mark: Features an engraved stamp on the smooth inner center edge: "ALPACA", guaranteeing the quality of the material. Measurements: *Total length (handle to handle): 44.2 cm *Body length: 36.5 cm *Width: 23.5 cm *Maximum height: 18 cm *Handles: 15.2 cm *Height to the edge of the body: 10 cm *Leg height: 3.5 cm -Condition: Excellent condition, as shown in the photos (Please examine all photos carefully; they best describe the condition and beauty of this magnificent piece). The structure is intact, without breaks or dents, and retains a vibrant metallic sheen after careful polishing. It has a minimal natural patina that attests to its age. -Versatility: Thanks to its generous dimensions, it's ideal as a large fruit bowl, a centerpiece for dried flower arrangements, or simply as a sculptural piece on a sideboard, dining table, or entryway. Its classic design allows it to fit seamlessly into both traditional decors and modern settings seeking a touch of antique charm. Registered shipping with tracking number and/or insurance
