Description:
Beautifully detailed antique lidded vase (urn) in the classic Napoleon III style. The piece is made of heavy bronze and richly decorated with a floral relief of leaves and fruit on the body. The vase features two graceful, figurative handles that transition into a scroll motif (volutes).
It sits on a sturdy, square bronze foot and is crowned by a tall, conically narrowing lid with ring decoration. This type of vase was often used in the 19th century as a mantel garniture.
It has not been polished; comes straight from the attic, hence a beautiful patina.
