Jean-Michel Basquiat, a hardback monograph in French, published by Gallimard in 2010 as first edition, 322 pages.
Description from the seller
Editor: Buchhart, Dieter, Preface: Suzanne Gallimard
Fondation Louis Vuitton
The Fondation Louis Vuitton organized in October 2010 a grand retrospective exhibition dedicated to the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), one of the most influential painters of the 20th century, an icon of contemporary art. As a mirror of the exhibition, this monographic catalog traces, from 1980 to 1988, the painter's entire career by focusing on about a hundred of his most decisive works. This book-catalog includes unpublished sets in Europe, essential works, and paintings rarely seen since their first presentations during the artist's lifetime. The existential character of the line in Basquiat, as in Schiele, is one of the throughlines highlighted by Dieter Buchhart, curator of the two major events of the Paris autumn cultural season.
