Christ Pantocrator, covered by an oklad (metallic relief covering) in relief, made of brass.

Iconographic type: Christ Pantocrator ("Sovereign of all").
Posture: frontal, blessing with the right hand and holding the Gospel with the left.
Face: solemn, hieratic, with direct gaze, typical of Byzantine and Russian art.
Book: the Gospel appears closed or semi-open, with inscription in ecclesiastical Slavonic (difficult to read due to wear).
Halo: cruciform, with dotted decoration on the oklad.
Inscriptions: on both sides of the halo there are usually abbreviations of “IC XC” (Jesus Christ)
The oklad (covering)
Covers nearly the entire original painting, leaving visible only:
the face
part of the hand
Vegetal and geometric decoration in relief, typical of the Russian tradition.
Function:
Devotional: ennobling the sacred image.
Protective: preserving the original painting.
Aesthetic: highlighting the spiritual through the shine of the metal.
Probably Russia or a Slavic Orthodox area.
Approximate dating: 18th–19th centuries
