Description from the seller
Iconic Luxo 1001 table lamp. This is a true design history classic that has become a cornerstone of modern office lighting. About the lamp: Luxo 1001 (FL-1 type) This model is one of the largest and most robust pieces in the Luxo range. Its special feature is a fluorescent version, . The lamp head is unusually wide to accommodate the two long fluorescent tubes, so it can illuminate an extremely large area without shadows. Its spring arms are also long, 120 cm. One of the pinnacles of industrial design from the 1950s and 60s. Today it is a rare and sought-after piece among collectors, especially in white. The manufacturer: The Norwegian company Luxo (founded in 1934), whose name comes from the Latin word "I light". The brand's worldwide fame was also increased by the Pixar animation studio, as their jumping lamp mascot (Luxo Jr.) was also modeled after this brand. The lamp was created by the Norwegian industrialist and designer Jac Jacobsen (1901–1996). Jacobsen further developed the "Anglepoise" mechanism of the Englishman George Carwardine. He developed a spring system similar to a human arm that stops in any position without having to be fixed with screws. The first model, the L-1, was introduced in 1937, and the 1001 was its professional, fluorescent development. The lamp works perfectly. In good condition for its time, its structure is impeccable. Unique design, fits into any interior.
