Vintage pine and rattan side table with a round 40 cm diameter top and a 51 cm height, dating from 1965–1975, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and small spots.
Description from the seller
Very nice, functional and decorative side table. You can view the small table as a summer tea or coffee table. It concerns a table made of pine (probably) with a round top of 40 cm x 40 cm with a woven top and lower shelf. The tops and the edge of the lower shelf are woven with rattan (thin strips of the rattan stalk).
The table is 51 cm high and the weight is about 3 kg.
Rattan and rotan both come from the rattan palm. Rotan is harvested higher up in the palm, while rattan grows closer to the ground. Both materials are used in furniture. Rattan is somewhat more flexible than rotan and is therefore used more often in weaving and bending work.
Rattan and rotan are sometimes confused with bamboo. It is certainly not bamboo. Bamboo is a very strong type of grass, from which furniture is also made.
This side table probably dates from the 1960s or 1970s of the last century. It still looks very good. There are hardly any signs of use visible. At the bottom there are a few cracks in the decorative edge (see photo), but this is not detrimental (and would be easy to repair). Furthermore, the table is entirely in order and still 100% stable.
It is a beautiful and atmospheric table that takes you back to the flower power era of the previous century.
The table is carefully packed and insured for shipping.
