Description from the seller
Elegant Antique Bamboo Walking Cane with Carved Root Handle – Edwardian Era – Early 20th Century (circa 1900–1920) – 85 cm
A refined antique walking cane from the Edwardian era, crafted from natural bamboo and dating to the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920).
This elegant piece features a gracefully curved handle with a deep, darkened finish, ending in a distinctive carved root (burl) knob. The subtle scorched tones of the handle contrast beautifully with the warm golden colour of the bamboo shaft, creating a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic typical of the Edwardian period.
The shaft displays natural bamboo nodes and a rich, mellow patina developed over time, enhancing its authentic character. The simplicity of form combined with organic materials reflects the understated elegance associated with early 20th-century walking sticks.
Good antique condition, showing signs of age and use. Visible surface wear, scratches, and natural age-related cracks along the bamboo shaft, consistent with its age (please see photos).
The cane remains structurally sound and stable. Fitted with a rubber ferrule at the base.
A stylish and characterful piece – ideal for collectors of antique canes, Edwardian accessories, or as a distinctive decorative object.
