Rare Sevres porcelain compote dish, with green S.56 mark under the foot indicating possible 1856 manufacture, decorated with camée medallions and a central floral bouquet on celeste blue ground with fine gold accents; diameter 22.5 cm, height 9.5 cm, width 22.3 cm, depth 2.5 cm, weight 490 g, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear and a central iron stem showing natural age oxidation but fully stable.

Rare Sèvres Porcelain Compote - S56 Mark with a trace of a wheel (rebus).
Decor: Cameos and Flowers
Description:
Magnificent cake stand (compote) in fine porcelain, from the famous Manufacture nationale de Sèvres.
Marking: Presence of the green stamp "S. 56" ? under the foot, indicating possible manufacture in 1856. The mark is ground, indicating a piece sold "in the white" by the manufactory and then decorated by a high-quality external Parisian painting workshop.
Decor: Rich neoclassical ornamentation (Louis XVI).
The dish is adorned with a central finely painted floral bouquet. The rim and the foot feature cameos (portraits in the antique style) on a sky-blue background, alternating with garlands of roses and fine gold highlights.
Style: Inspired by Catherine II of Russia’s famous service.
Condition: Very good condition of the porcelain and the gilding. Note: the central mounting stem in iron shows natural oxidation due to age (see photos), but overall is perfectly stable.
Dimensions: diameter 22.5 cm
Piece of great finesse, to complete a 19th-century porcelain collection or for an exceptional table.
