Large decorative iridescent glass bowl, Freiherr von Poschinger, circa 1900, with a free-formed, single-piece body, 14 cm high and 34.5 cm in diameter, in multicoloured Art Nouveau style from Bavaria, Germany.
Description from the seller
Large decorative bowl made of iridescent glass, Freiherr von Poschinger, circa 1900.
The bowl is free-formed from a single piece of glass into a wide, gently curving shape and features an integrated base. The rim is irregularly wavy and, in its design, evokes a stylized Art Nouveau floral motif.
The glass exhibits a pronounced iridescence with shifting hues of gold, violet, and green. Particularly characteristic is the fine, net-like structure of dark, branching lines that stretches across the surface, lending the piece a lively, organic effect. The shaping creates a recessed central hollow on the inside, which further emphasizes the color gradient.
The underside is smooth, with a visible break point from the manufacturing process. There is no signature, which is not uncommon for glassworks of this type and period.
Dimensions:
Height: approx. 14 cm
Diameter: approx. 34.5 cm
This piece is a typical example of decorative glass works from the Bohemian region, including Bavaria.
