In this work I approach the human figure through a contemporary reinterpretation of Cubist language, where identity is not defined by the face, but by structure, presence, and its relationship with space. The figure, stripped of facial features, becomes a universal sign, an entity that observes and is observed at the same time.
The composition is built from a fragmentation of geometric planes that articulate both the body and the environment. There is no clear separation between figure and background; both are integrated into a single visual system where forms intersect, overlap, and dialogue with each other. This dissolution of hierarchies is key within Cubist thinking.
The work is situated within a contemporary Cubist line, in which multiplicity of perspectives and formal synthesis replace traditional representation. More than describing reality, the painting reorganizes it, proposing a simultaneous reading of space and time.
Color acts as a structural element. The intense and contrasting palettes do not aim to imitate reality, but to build the image, generating tensions, rhythms, and balances that guide the viewer’s gaze through the composition.
"The Observer" presents a silent paradox: a figure lacking a face, yet whose presence is profoundly conscious. It is in that absence that the gaze arises, not as a physical act, but as an interior experience.
