Two Chinese porcelain plates from the Kangxi period (17th century), blue-and-white underglaze decoration, each 24 × 24 cm with a height of 2.5 cm, weight 805 g total, origin China, in good condition with minor signs of age, sold without a stand.
Description from the seller
Two Chinese porcelain plates – Kangxi period, 17th century
A special and authentic pair of Chinese porcelain plates from the Kangxi period (1662–1722), produced in the 17th century. These plates are executed in the characteristic blue-and-white décor, with refined brushwork and rich detailing that typify this flowering era of the Qing dynasty.
The larger plate features an extensive floral and landscape scene, framed by a richly decorated rim with ornaments and motifs. The second plate has a more restrained decor with stylized floral motifs. Both pieces display the craftsmanship and aesthetics for which Kangxi porcelain is valued worldwide.
The backs show the characteristic unglazed foot ring and glaze finish, appropriate to the period. As is customary with porcelain of this age, there may be light signs of use, firing flaws, or small irregularities, which contribute to the authenticity.
An attractive lot for collectors of antique Chinese porcelain, especially the combination of two different decor styles within the same period that makes the whole even more interesting.
