Description from the seller
Set of Makkum earthenware – bowl, chinoiserie bowl with 3 small dishes and tile, mid-20th century.
A varied and decorative set of Makkum earthenware, dating from the mid-20th century, consisting of one bowl, one chinoiserie bowl with three matching small dishes, and one Makkum tile. This set reflects the rich tradition of the Frisian Makkum, known for its artisanal and hand-painted ceramics.
The first bowl is rendered in a polychrome decoration with floral motifs, while the second bowl and the three small dishes are executed in a blue-and-white chinoiserie style, inspired by Oriental examples. The Makkum tile provides a charming complement and is likewise finished with a hand-painted decoration.
The combination of different shapes and styles makes this lot particularly attractive: a playful and versatile ensemble that can be used both functionally and decoratively. Ideal for lovers of Dutch earthenware and traditional ceramics.
