Description from the seller
Bernhard Hertz – Sculptural silver brooch – Denmark – Mid-Century Modern (ca. 1960–1970)
A refined and visually striking design from the renowned Danish silver house Bernhard Hertz, executed in a characteristic mid-century modern style in which form and line take center stage.
This brooch stands out for its organically symmetrical composition, built from flowing, open-worked silver lines that converge around a subtle central ball. The design balances between an abstract flower form and a stylized bow, making it a striking example of Scandinavian design where functionality and sculptural aesthetics come together.
The clear, polished finish captures light gracefully and emphasizes the depth and movement of the design. As a result, the brooch functions not only as jewelry but also as a small, portable design object.
The brooch is made in sterling silver and bears the original stamp “STERLING DENMARK” with Bernhard Hertz’s hallmark, indicating production for the international market in the second half of the 20th century.
This type of design is representative of the Danish design tradition in which simplicity, balance, and material use are central — timeless and effortlessly pairable with both classic and modern clothing.
Dimensions: L 5.3 cm x W 3.2 cm
Weight: 7.4 g
This object is in nice pre-owned condition with a working rollover safety clasp. Very good vintage condition, minimal signs of wear appropriate to age. It will be securely packaged for safe shipping by registered mail with tracking and insured.
