Description from the seller

Ancient ecclesiastical seal – 19th century

Ancient solid brass seal, mounted on a turned wooden handle, bearing the imprint of a mitred bishop holding his crosier. The peripheral legend is: “S. AIGNAN DE MOULINS-LES-NOYERS · Près Dᵢocᵉˢᵉ DE SENS”

It is evidently a parish or confraternal seal, probably made in the 19th century according to the engraving style (naive but clear line, classic text layout, regular capital letters) and the turning of the handle.
The brass shows an authentic old patina, without over-polishing.
The wooden handle presents a few violet ink stains, typical of long usage in a parish house or sacristy.

Dimensions : Total height : 12 cm - Diameter of the matrix : 3.5 cm

Provenance : Private collection.

Photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.

The item will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking number, to guarantee a fast and safe delivery.
