Description from the seller
Rare Saint-Louis Crystal Carafe – Model "Apollo"
Storia e Design: L'Eccellenza della Manifattura Reale
For sale, a masterpiece of glassmaking signed Saint-Louis, the oldest royal crystal works in France (founded in 1586 and today part of the Hermès Group). This splendid carafe belongs to the famous Apollo collection, introduced in 1979, a line that embodies the perfect balance between the rigour of neoclassicism and the purity of contemporary design.
Unlike the classic bottle with a stopper, this jug variant (aiguière) stands out for its slender silhouette and the majestic heat-applied handle, which enhances its convivial function and formal elegance.
Technical and Craft Features
Manufacture: Saint-Louis (France).
Model: Apollo.
Technique: Mouth-blown, hand-cut crystal, crafted entirely by the master glassmakers.
Cut Details: The body is decorated with the iconic flat, thin vertical ribbing that creates unique refractions. The base of the body and the circular foot feature refined diamond-point cutting and a radial star cut under the base, distinctive marks of the French school.
Signature: Acid-etched circular mark under the base reading "Saint-Louis France", guarantee of authenticity and value.
Material: Massively dense crystal, renowned for its extraordinary clarity and its characteristic silvery tone.
Condition: "Cabinet Condition"
The piece is in excellent condition, like new.
Crystal perfectly transparent and brilliant.
No opacity, cracks, chips, or limescale marks.

(Note: Any imperceptible marks of contact on the base should be considered evidence of the handcrafted nature and age).
Value and Collecting
The Apollo model is a safe investment in the luxury world. This carafe is not only a refined tool for table service, but a true decorative art object. Its rarity in such impeccable condition makes it a premier piece for discerning collectors and lovers of the French art de vivre.
