Description from the seller
Lotto di 8 Flûte "Soffiato Leggero" – Manifattura Nason Moretti, Murano
Overview of the Work
We offer a refined set of 8 flute-shaped goblets in Murano glass, an exemplary piece of Venetian production from the 20th century. The line, characterized by a slender silhouette and extreme lightness of material, can be traced back to the historic Nason Moretti furnace, famous for revolutionizing the concept of the "feather glass" in the postwar period.
Technical Characteristics and Manufacturing
Production Period: circa 1950–1970. This design reflects the modernist taste of the mid-century, where the purity of crystal meets Venetian Baroque decoration in a minimalist key.
Blowing Technique: The drinking surface has a millimetric thickness, achieved through free-blown glass. The trumpet-shaped form precision testifies to the high degree of mastery of the glassmakers of the era.
The Stem: A distinctive feature of the set is the button-stem with a "morfisa" (hot-worked) finish. The central node, with spiraling decoration (tortiglione), encloses a precious 24kt gold leaf, expertly applied to create a suspended-light effect.
Trumpet Base: The base is of the "hollow" or trumpet type, a configuration that requires perfect weight distribution to ensure stability despite the very thin glasses.
The set presents itself in excellent vintage condition. No sign of hairlines, chipping or glass hazing (sick glass) is observed. The brilliance of the gold is perfectly preserved inside the glass knot.
TECHNICAL NOTE FOR THE COLLECTOR
Mandatory Maintenance Protocol:
Prospective buyer is informed that, due to the ultra-thin nature of the crystal and the particular 24kt gold leaf decoration applied with traditional technique, these items are not compatible with mechanical washing in a dishwasher.
Chemical action of modern detergents and high temperatures can compromise the molecular stability of the thin glass and alter the luster of the gold leaf.
Washing: Strictly by hand, using warm water and neutral soap.
Drying: It is recommended to use a linen or soft microfiber cloth to avoid mechanical shocks to the stem or the possibility of removing the gold-gilding!!!!
Height 21.5 cm, mouth diameter 6.8 cm, Base 6.3 cm.
