Democratic Republic of the Congo
Total height (without the base): 34 cm
Age: early 20th century (perhaps 19th)
Materials: wood, antelope horn, fetish materials, red copper plate, trade beads, calabash, antelope skin, copper wire, iron nail
Provenance: formerly owned by Charles (Charly) Hénault - Belgium (he worked for the IMNZ (Institute of National Museums of Zaire) and with Brother Joseph-Aurélien Cornet); former collection of Pierre Loos - Belgium

The Bakwa Luntu constitute one of the tribes that make up the Luba-Kasaï people living in the Dimbelenge region, with the exception of the Lukibu sector, and they are also present in small numbers in the Ndemba territory, a little north of the city of Mbuji-Mayi. The name “Luntu” thus designates a Luba-Kasaï tribe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
