We have here a very beautiful Luba fetish figurine from the early 20th century, seated on a stool whose shape is quite similar to that of chairs without caryatids, but finely carved for the high society of Baluba.
This fetish carried several magical charges (bishimba) on the crown of its head and underneath.

One can see in the eleventh black-and-white photograph a very similar statue, which is undoubtedly the work of the same sculptor (ex-collection Edgar Beer — Brussels, 1960s — photo credit: JSTOR).
The last two photographs show images of two stools similar to the one on which the fetish is seated.
