Ngala short sword (Bangala group)
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Total length: 42 cm
Period: early 20th century
Materials: wrought iron, wood, red and yellow copper wire, tapestry nails, fine sheets of copper repoussé-engraved
Provenance: formerly Belgian private collection

A classic knife of the Bangala peoples of the Upper Congo, of which the Ngombe, the Ngbandi, and the Ngbaka are part.
Very beautiful handle worked in red and yellow copper wire with additional work on the grip of repoussé copper sheets.
Nice piece.
