Pair of tripod stools in solid beech wood, Brutalist, from circa mid‑20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of age and stains; dimensions 50 cm wide, 52 cm high, 26 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Fascinating pair of tripod stools in full Brutalist style, from a private French collection dating to the mid-20th century (circa 1950-1960).
These pieces perfectly embody the aesthetics of French Organic Modernism, made famous by figures such as Charlotte Perriand. Crafted entirely in solid wood (presumably beech), they stand out for robust and sincere artisanal workmanship.
Technical Features:
Construction: Circular, thick-seated top with legs joined in sight by traditional tenon-and-mlot? mortise technique, ensuring exceptional stability without the use of metal elements.
Design: The three-legged (tripod) structure is not only functional for stability on uneven surfaces, but also lends a sculptural, minimalist profile typical of the Wabi-sabi taste.
Conditions: The stools display an authentic, splendid patina, with the natural signs of time confirming their age and history. They have been cleaned and nourished with natural beeswax to preserve the wood's integrity.
Stylistic Details:
Perfect for integration into a contemporary setting, both as seating and as decorative elements (bedside tables or plant stands), adding a touch of material warmth and historical character.
The wood shows the characteristic delamination holes that attest to its antiquity and authenticity. To ensure maximum hygiene and longevity, the stools have undergone a professional microwave treatment: a certified technology that eliminates all organic residue in an ecological way, without using toxic chemicals and preserving the integrity of the original patina.
