Fanciulla con rosa e farfalla, oil painting on canvas from the 19th century, Italian school, not signed, sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Fascinating oil on canvas portrait from the early nineteenth century, depicting a girl with an ecstatic expression who observes a butterfly in flight, holding a white rose in her hand. The painting features careful details in the clothing, such as the azure shawl, and a rendering of the drapery that, together with the delicacy of the hands and the flower, suggests an attribution to the Bologna school of the nineteenth century, as reported in a newspaper clipping applied to the back of the frame ("The painting of the great-grandmother"). The work presents widespread natural craquelé on the painted surface, consistent with the era, and is framed in a rich and elegant giltwood frame contemporaneous with ornamental motifs.
Artwork size: 60x48 cm
Frame size: 77x65 cm
The back bears an important conservation note: the work underwent professional restoration in 1998.
Shows marks as demonstrated in the attached photographs, to be observed very carefully as an integral part of the description.
Shipped without glass (if present) unless alternative indications are given at the time of purchase.
The painting will be shipped with professional packaging and tracked shipping.
We invite bidders to examine the photographs carefully, as an integral part of the description—the artwork viewed in the images will be the same that will be delivered to your home!
