Anthropomorphic mask attributed to the Kongo area, probably Yombe or Woyo, gathered with the preceding specimen, which strengthens the interest of this ensemble both ethnographically and aesthetically. This proximity of collection suggests a coherent group, stemming from the same conservation or use context, an element always appreciated by enthusiasts of old, well-sourced objects.

This mask immediately captivates with its powerful, expressive face, the mouth widely half-open, revealing a dentition sculpted with candor, almost brutal, which gives it a singular presence. The facial modeling, more massive and taut than on some other masks from the region, offers here a more dramatic, almost theatrical reading, while remaining perfectly grounded in the Kongo plastic universe.

The coiffure, finely grooved, provides a visually successful counterpoint to the dark surface of the face. The external patina, deep and antique, reveals an object of notable age, with material preserving a true visual density. Overall it possesses the charm of old pieces that remained sincere, without decorative overload or excessive intervention.

As with the other mask from the same lot, one of the most interesting aspects lies in its manifest antiquity, even though the object does not necessarily show traces of intensive use immediately visible.
