Vavassori & Pirovani - Ewer - .800 silver

Elegant carafe / pouring jug in blown, transparent green glass with a refined silver mount by the important Milanese silversmith G. Vavassori (Vavassori Silver, Milan, active in the second half of the 20th century).

The object features:
Bulbous body in green glass with the typical veins and bubbles of the blowing process.
Basket-like base fully hand-woven with silver bars and wires (a characteristic and recognizable technique of Vavassori production for glass-silver tableware).
Arched handle in glass wrapped by twisted silver wire in a decorative spiral.
Tall neck with a pronounced pouring lip, also clad in silver wire that continues the decoration and connects the glass to the base.
The silver wirework creates an elegant “chained” effect between the glass and the mounting.
The base is damaged as shown in the photo; it has been tested with water and no leaks were observed.
