AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptional miniature vase of an ovoid shape, a reduced-format masterpiece from the Daum Nancy factory, dating to around 1910. This piece belongs to the highly sought-after "Marine" series, which transposes the immensity of a coastal landscape onto a glass surface of a few centimeters.

Despite its small size, the execution quality is on par with the monumental vases of the manufacturer:
- Multilayer Glass with "Vitrifications": The background is formed in hot process with yellow and orange glass powders that blend into a deep brown toward the base, realistically evoking the golden light of a sunset reflecting on the sea.
- Cameo Enamel Decoration: The silhouettes of sailing boats (bragozzi or frigates) and their shimmering reflections on the water are meticulously painted by hand with brown and black enamels. The technique creates a backlit silhouette effect of great poetry and miniaturist precision.
- Atmospheric Details: Light clouds on the horizon and sea ripples are rendered with softer enamel shades, giving notable perspective depth to the scene.
- Satin Finish: The surface has been fully etched to obtain a matte and velvety finish, typical of the high-school Nancy production.

- Author: Daum Nancy (marked with the Lorena Cross, painted in black enamel under the base).
- Era: Circa 1910 (Full Art Nouveau period).
- Condition: Excellent. Glass intact, no chips, cracks, or signs of wear. Enamels perfectly preserved and bright.
