Shepard Fairey, known worldwide as OBEY, is one of the most influential urban artists of our time, and the creator of the iconic “HOPE” image of Barack Obama. 

AK-47 Lotus is an iconic offset lithograph by Shepard Fairey in which an AK-47 is combined with a lotus flower, a traditional symbol of peace, purity, and rebirth. The work establishes a strong contrast between violence and spirituality, and critiques the glorification of weapons within contemporary political and media culture.

This image derives from an anti-war poster that Fairey initially created as street art in the early 2000s. Over time, it has become one of his most recognizable images and has been used in pacifist demonstrations around the world. Fairey has explained that the power of the piece lies in this visual contradiction: a weapon designed to kill transformed into an almost meditative graphic symbol, forcing the viewer to pause and reflect.
