Description from the seller
Decorative wall mirror in carved and gilded wood – Baroque/Rococo style with a shell motif
Elegant wall mirror made of carved and gilded wood, featuring a rich ornamental display of scrolls, acanthus leaves and vegetal motifs, typical of Baroque and Rococo taste. The upper crest is adorned with a shell carved and painted in blue, a decorative element strongly symbolic and recurring in 18th-century decorative art.
The shaped form of the central mirror follows harmoniously the profile of the frame, creating an elegant and dynamic ensemble. The reflective surface shows oxidation and veiling that confer authenticity and vintage charm.
The gilding, probably applied with traditional techniques, shows a natural patina with signs of wear consistent with age, contributing to the character of the object. On the back the original wooden structure with hanging system is visible.
