Rate Face Powder sign, enamel on metal, made in Japan, dating from the early 20th century to mid-20th century, in Poor condition with cracks and rust, measuring 60 cm by 11 cm by 1 cm and weighing 335 g.
Description from the seller
The "Rate Face Powder" depicted on this sign was a popular cosmetics brand sold by Hirao Sanpei Shoten from the Meiji era to the early Showa era. Its distinguishing feature was its "pure lead-free" formula, and the cream-type "Rate Merry" and "Rate Goshiki Suigeko" (Rate Five-Color Water Makeup Powder) were particularly popular due to their convenience in combining skincare and makeup.
Since the manufacturer went out of business in 1954 (Showa 29), this sign is believed to have been manufactured at least before 1954.
Corrosion, stains, and wear due to rust and deterioration over time are visible.
