As an original production material, this artwork is entirely unique, with no duplicates in existence. Created for internal studio use during the original production period, this cel is a genuine artifact from the animation process of one of Studio Ghibli’s most powerful and visually striking films. The cel features San in a harrowing and emotionally intense moment from the film, as the boar god Okkoto becomes consumed by a curse of writhing spirit worms that also begin to engulf her. This dramatic scene captures the raw tension and dark beauty that define Princess Mononoke, with expressive animation and striking visual contrast. The background is a reproduction. The piece is presented with a custom frame and mat, designed to complement and protect the artwork. A Certificate of Authenticity will be included with your purchase. This item is presented interleaved with MicroChamber paper placed, an archival material used to protect artwork by reducing harmful acids and paint fumes which damage the cel over time.
