Description from the seller
Rare Set of 6 Long Drink Glasses in Hand-cut Crystal – High French Manufacture – Early 1900s.
Prestigious set of 6 tall cocktail glasses (Long Drink/Highball) in heavy crystal of exceptional quality.
The set dates from the early years of the 20th century (circa 1900-1920) and represents the quintessence of French crystal glassware of the era.
The workmanship, carried out entirely by hand on a grindstone, features a geometrical decoration of high precision:
Pastilles Motif (Bull’s Eyes): Large concave circular engravings that create an extraordinary lens and prismatic effect.
Côtes Plates: A grid of vertical and horizontal grooves that frame the pastilles, typical of luxury models from the Lorraine region.
Although they bear no mark (acid etching was systematically introduced only after 1936), the purity of the crystal, the specific gravity and the complexity of the cut are fully attributable to the production quality of elite manufactories such as Baccarat or Saint-Louis.
The set is in excellent condition.
The crystal is clear, without opacity or chipping. An extremely pure and persistent sound confirms its very high quality.
Era: 1900-1920 (Belle Époque)
Origin: France
Height: 15.5 cm.
