Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A late 19th‑century gilded wooden French cheval mirror from Italy, celebrating Belle Epoque styling, measuring 215 cm high by 135 cm wide and about 10 cm deep, in good used condition with light age-related signs and minor wear.
Description from the seller
This majestic French wall mirror, dating from the 19th century, represents an excellent example of eclectic taste. The wooden frame is enriched with rich gilding that highlights the elaborately pierced Rocaille motifs on the crest and the delicate floral tendrils that frame the sides.
The original mirror shows the characteristic and charming time oxidations, which guarantee its authenticity and historical prestige. Originally conceived as a piece to stand above the fireplaces of the upper middle class in the 1800s, this mirrored piece combines the solidity of 19th-century craftsmanship with the lightness of 18th-century curved lines, making it an item of furniture with extraordinary visual impact and antiquarian value.
Dimension: 215x135x10 cm
The piece presents itself in good vintage condition, preserving all the charm of its original patina; the structure is solid, although the frame shows some physiological cracks in the plaster and minor losses in the decoration, marks of time that confirm its authenticity. The mirror also features the characteristic and fascinating punctiform oxidations typical of antique glass.
Please study the photographs carefully, as they are an integral part of the description.
**Given the size, pick-up is preferred; however, we can provide a dedicated shipping quote, upon request, for national and international delivery.
