Art Nouveau perfume bottle of slender cylindrical form in clear glass with hand-painted floral enamel and gold detailing, attributed to the Nancy area (Daum Nancy/Delatte), circa 1900–1910, measuring 15.5 cm high with a 3.5 cm diameter, complete with outer protective cap and inner screw cap, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant slender cylindrical perfume bottle, made in artistic glass with refined mounts in brunito metal. The piece is a classic example of high-school French glass production from around 1900-1910, heavily influenced by the botanical models of the Daum Nancy Manufacture.
The object exhibits execution quality typical of the renowned Lorena masters of the era:
- Satin Glass "Ice Effect": The body of the bottle is made of colorless glass, entirely acid-etched to achieve a satin, velvety surface (mat finish) that mimics frost.
- Enamel and Gold Decoration: The bottle is finely decorated with small wild orchid flowers (Orchis) hand-painted with vitreous enamels in shades of purple and burgundy. The leaf and vine details are rendered with a delicate technique of gilded enamel, which gives luminosity to the composition.
- Double Original Mount: The lot is complete with its outer protective cap, finely embossed with foliate motifs at the base, and the coordinating internal screw cap. Both metal components show a natural and fascinating patina of time.
- Base Finish: The base of the bottle is cold-ground and polished, a characteristic feature of premium production of the era.
- Attribution: Nancy School (Daum Nancy / Delatte Style).
- Era: Circa 1900-1910 (Art Nouveau).
- Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The glass is intact, with no chipping or filigree. The enamels and gilding are well preserved. The metal mounts are original to the period and functional.
Although the object has no visible signatures, the technical coherence (acid-etched glass, high-fire enamels, embossed mounts) allows attribution with certainty to the Nancy production area. Unmarked pieces of this quality are highly prized by collectors of antique glass for their historical authenticity and aesthetic charm.
