Description from the seller

Art Deco Serving Tray – Delft Blue Willow Ceramic – De Porceleyne Fles / Delft Poly Schoonhoven – decor “Kunz Edeltin” – circa 1930-1950

An elegant Art Deco serving tray in which Dutch ceramic craftsmanship and refined metalwork come together. This stylish serving tray consists of a Delft ceramic plate mounted in an ornate metal frame with two handles, making it both functional and decorative.

The ceramic plate was produced by Delft Poly / Schoonhoven Ceramic (Holland), a manufacturer that built on the tradition of the famous Delft earthenware. On the back there is a maker’s mark including “Delft Poly Schoonhoven Keramiek Holland,” together with a reference to “Kunz Edeltin,” a German producer of tin and metalware that produced high‑quality frames and serving items in the first half of the 20th century.

The plate features a refined floral decoration with alpine flowers, including edelweiss-like motifs and delicate meadow blooms. The subtle colors – blue, red and green – contrast beautifully with the ivory background of the ceramic. The combination of fine line drawings and soft hues gives the tray a charming, almost romantic appearance.

The metal frame with a perforated edge and graceful handles complements the Art Deco aesthetic: sleek, elegant and functional, with subtle decorative details. The openwork edge gives the piece a light and refined character.

Serving trays like this were popular in the interwar and early postwar periods as coffee or tea serving trays, but were also often used as decorative objects on a table, sideboard or display cabinet. Through the combination of ceramic and metal, the object radiates both luxury and craftsmanship.

Today, this type of tray is beloved by collectors of Art Deco, Delft pottery and vintage serving objects.

Condition
Good vintage condition with light signs of use appropriate to age and use. The ceramic is nicely intact and the decoration is clear. The metal frame shows slight patina and normal wear.
