Wall sconce (2) - Gilt bronze - Bronze Appliques

In this auction there are two gilded bronze appliques of Italian manufacture, specifically made in the Gulf of Naples by a master bronze founder.
The appliques are of notable artistic merit, highly decorated and rich in detail.
In the center there is a sculpture of a fruit basket.
They were displayed in a set of six in an important Neapolitan noble dining room, hence the choice of the fruit basket as a decoration.
They are spectacular, a sincere compliment to the auction winner.
The gilding is in excellent condition despite its age and the 280 years!!!
There is significant oxidation on the rear side and one can observe a quantity of copper in the bronze.
One has undergone a mid-restoration and shows signs of old gluing.
They are now virtually unobtainable!
