A beautiful and authentic Tomado modular wall system from the 1950s/60s, designed by Adriaan Dekker for the Dutch brand Tomado. This iconic system is a textbook example of the optimistic and functional design from the post-war period and grew into one of the most recognizable designs within Dutch modernism.

The system consists of two black metal ladder frames and three original metal shelves in the classic Tomado colors red, gray and yellow. This color scheme gives the whole a playful graphic character that perfectly fits the modernist interiors of the 1950s and 60s. The shelves are easily adjustable and can be placed at different heights within the frame as desired, making the system flexible to use.

Tomado (Van der Togt Massa Artikelen Dordrecht) introduced this modular wall system in the early fifties. Dekker's design quickly gained international popularity due to the clever construction, lightweight form, and the ability to endlessly expand the system. Today it is regarded as a classic within mid-century modern design.

The shelves still bear the original Tomado Holland stamps, confirming the authenticity of the piece. Thanks to the slim metal frame, the system appears to float on the wall, while remaining sturdy and functional. Ideal for books, ceramics, design objects or as a decorative element in a modern or vintage interior.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The system shows light signs of use appropriate to age and use, such as small scratches and wear on the edges of the shelves. The Tomado stamps are visible. See photos for a good impression of the condition.
