1.5 Euro 2006 "F1 - Renault"

A very special coin is the 1.5 euro silver coin from 2006, "F1 - Renault", issued to commemorate the World Championship title in 2005 for the French Formula 1 team Renault with Fernando Alonso.

The coin is minted in the highest finish quality, Proof (Polierte Platte), by the Monnaie de Paris. On the obverse, a Formula 1 car is depicted in frontal view, surrounded by a laurel wreath, symbolizing the world champion title. On the reverse, you see the racing car on a checkered background—the checkered design is closely associated with the finish flag, which is waved first for the winner of each Grand Prix.
