Flared cup on a footed base in bronze from the Western Zhou dynasty (1100-771 BC)
Exterior walls adorned with relief incised Taotie mask friezes. below, an inscription is engraved in the bronze.
On the footring, a frieze incised in relief decorates the outer wall above a swelling.
On each side, symmetrically, a Taotie mask in relief holds a ring as an applique.
Very beautiful green, blue, and red patina, forming thick calcified crusts in places.
The condition of the bronze has been stabilized by a chemical treatment after excavation to prevent deterioration upon contact with air.
Deformation and loss at the neck
Dimensions: 21 x 21 x 15 cm
