Elegant Savonarola chair by Florentine artists in walnut wood.

Made in the mid-20th century in Italy, specifically in the Tuscany region.
The Savonarola chair is a folding chair, closing like a book and made up of serpentine curved elements and cross X-shaped ones. The backrest features the lily, Florentine symbol.

The term "Savonarola" derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), in whose era the chair of this type would still be preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.
