With this work I want to interpret the oppression that is reiterated upon women. She has a veil, but a veil that leaves strands of hair free, shows their color, softness. As if she wore a constraint imposed, yet it is overcome by the true essence, by the will and desire for freedom! In this context, we indeed see the shadow projected with a huge mass of hair, as enormous as the ongoing desire for redemption to which women are subjected… We also notice the bees, ugly, annoying, but necessary to the natural ecosystem; they are, in truth and importance, as beautiful as butterflies.

ARTIST NEWS
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milan native and a Rimini resident by choice. She approached art as a self-taught artist from 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she sought realism in the faces from the start, later turning to other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group shows across Italy and internationally and displays her works in important Italian museums. Her works are part of various private collections worldwide. Four solo exhibitions so far. She collaborated on the cover of a poetry book in 2015 and on the cover of a philosophy book in 2023.
Winner and finalist in several artistic competitions, at national and international levels.
Laura describes her work thus: “I prefer oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, smoothing, and perfecting. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to grasp the essence of the subject quickly, directly and instinctively. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions, and stories to decipher.
My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not seen: desires, fears, memories. Each scene starts from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects, and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the dimension of the unsaid.”
