Description from the seller

Mandingue sabre, or what is called a sofa sword
These Malinke sabres were intended for the riders called sofa – the latter distinguished themselves in the war waged at the end of the 19th century by Samory against the French who were then colonizing West Africa – the curved blades are in fact inspired by French sabres. The leather scabbard is more traditional in the style of Arab-Berber leatherwork.
Complete and in good condition.
