Two French wrought‑iron architectural ornaments dating to ca. 1900–1910, each 90 cm high, 22 cm wide and 22 cm deep, in good used condition with minor wear and imperfections, in an antique style.
Description from the seller
These two architectural ornaments from the late 19th or early 20th century, wrought in forged iron, retain the full expressive force of traditional blacksmithing. Their elongated silhouette, crowned with symmetric volutes, reveals an absolute mastery of fire and hammer: taut curves, well-resolved spirals and an ornamental rhythm that combines ruggedness and lightness. The reddish patina, the fruit of time and exposure, adds a nearly sculptural character, as if each piece had been acquiring its own tone and texture over decades.
At the top, the spherical finials provide an elegant closing gesture, while the lower ends, more functional, suggest their former integration into a railing, a gate, or some decorative architectural element. They are pieces that speak of a moment when iron not only fulfilled a structural function, but also became a support for ornamentation, capable of beautifying façades, balconies or entrances with a visual language of their own.
Today, these elements function as fragments of recovered architecture: objects with soul, laden with history, that can be reinterpreted as sculptures, decorative appliques or unique accents in a contemporary interior. Their presence conveys authenticity and craftsmanship, recalling the beauty of handmade work and the durability of noble materials.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
