Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Two patinated bronze deer sculptures, one standing (38 cm high, 23 cm wide, 7 cm deep, about 850 g) and one lying (30 cm high, 25 cm wide, 10 cm deep, about 950 g), cast from two halves and welded together, dating to 1980–1990 and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Two very beautiful bronze sculptures of the red deer. They depict a standing and a lying-down specimen. The standing deer is (with antlers) 38 cm tall, 23 cm wide and about 7 cm deep. The weight of this sculpture is about 850 g. The lying deer is (with antlers) 30 cm high, 25 cm wide and 10 cm deep. The weight of this sculpture is about 950 g.
The sculptures belong together as a set. They are made of patinated bronze. With a special technique, the metal has gained a very beautiful patina layer, giving the sculptures an antique appearance. The sculptures, however, date from the last quarter of the 20th century.
The sculptures are not solid. They were cast in two halves that were welded (soldered) together and finished. The antlers were cast separately and placed on at the end.
Although the sculptures look fairly realistic at first glance, they do have a somewhat angular quality. A similar look to Art Deco sculptures. You could therefore call the style Art Deco as well. Together the sculptures make a very beautiful display, and on a desk, in a cabinet, or in a display case, this pair offers a very lovely sight!
