This book documents an important, life-changing period in the author’s life. Alec Soth traveled with his wife to Bogotá, Colombia, to adopt a baby girl, and while the courts processed the adoption paperwork, he began making this book for his daughter. Soth writes, “In photographing the city of her birth, I hope I’ve described some of the beauty in this hard place.” That beauty emerges through ramshackle architecture, the companionship of animals, and the perseverance of the human spirit. Yet Soth’s photographs go beyond a simple portrait of beauty, wandering among strays, resilient souls, and small signs of hope. 60 Pages - 21.5 × 1.3 × 22.4 cm
