Lock and key Baroque

Forged iron locks from the 18th century are robust, hand-forged pieces of craftsmanship, often featuring complex mechanisms and decorative details such as pierced plates. They were mostly used on heavy wooden chests, such as the famous Nuremberg money chests with multi-point bolts, and on doors in castles or manor houses
Material and Technique: Fully hand-forged steel/iron, often with a rusty or patinated finish.
Many lock plates from this period are adorned with engraving or pierced decorations.
The accompanying keys are often large, heavy, and decorative, typical of the rotary-key mechanisms of the time.
Many of these locks came from regions such as Nuremberg (Germany) or Italy.
