Description from the seller
For sale: an exceptional, hand-carved solid wood console. The central motif of this architectural support is a Satyr (or Faun) – a mythological being with the upper body of a man and the distinctive legs of an animal (goat).
The carving is highly detailed and three-dimensional. The Satyr is set within an arrangement of artistic volutes and foliage. Such figures were often used in the Baroque period as decorative consoles for cornices, shelves, or as part of majestic furniture. The dark patina gives the object an authentic, historical aura.
Details:
Motif: Satyr / Pan (man with animal legs) in floral ornamentation.
Material: Solid wood, dark patinated.
Style: Baroque / Historicism.
Special feature: Very rare portrayal, masterful relief carving.
Condition:
Good condition for its age with beautiful patina. Slight signs of aging in the wood (such as tiny cracks from drying), which reinforce the antique character.
