Description from the seller

Chalice, paten, and spoon in vermeil silver – France, 19th century – Neo-Gothic

Important liturgical chalice in vermeil silver with its paten, kept in its original case, accompanied by the liturgical spoon.

The chalice features an interior cup fully gilded in accordance with Eucharistic use. The false cup is richly decorated with engraved and pierced fleurs-de-lis, alternating with medallions depicting angels in prayer.

The poly-lobed stem, finely chased, repeats this heraldic and floral decor, punctuated by religious medallions and edged with beaded friezes.

The central knot, clearly defined, facilitates handling during the celebration.

The matching paten, also in vermeil silver, is adorned at the center with a radiant IHS, a traditional Christic symbol.

Characteristic ensemble of French liturgical production of the 19th century, in a Neo-Gothic / Neo-Medieval style, highly appreciated for church furniture of that period.

Presence of the liturgical spoon intended for the addition of wine and water during the preparation of the chalice.

The visible hallmarks indicate:
• Minerve mark (Head of Minerva): French guarantee for silver of first title (950/1000), used since 1838.
• Silversmith’s mark: lozenge containing initials and symbol (partially legible in the photos), not identifiable with certainty

The set has undergone a complete restoration by the Mertens Chocat house of Brussels. It is in very beautiful condition, close to new. Interior gilding well preserved.
Ancient case present and in very good condition

The photos are an integral part of the description of the items and complement their presentation. They allow you to appreciate their condition and features. Please examine them carefully before any commitment

The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
