Coffret de jetons de jeu ancien en bois – France ou Angleterre – Fin XIXᵉ siècle



Description

Elegant case of antique game tokens, dating from the late 19th century, presumably of French or English origin. It contains a rich collection of tokens of various shapes, colors and materials, accompanied by antique dice.

The case is veneered wood with an elegant marquetry pattern (black diamond at the center of the lid). The interior is lined with original green paper, well preserved, with compartments neatly arranged.

Contents of the case:
• round wooden tokens, painted bone (red, yellow, violet, white, black, etc.)
• rectangular tokens
• 3 antique dice in bone or ivory substitute
• Interior with 6 distinct compartments including a central circular compartment



Etat

Good overall condition, wear consistent with age (see photos).
The green interior lining is original and shows some signs of use.
Box structurally sound, hinges functional. Missing marquetry and 1 of the 2 closure mechanisms have issues and the top has undergone some deformations.
