Description from the seller

Introduction José Soler:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xmToe0GrYo

Explanation of the work:

Steel is one of the hardest and most resilient materials we have. As a master of steel I am used to feeling its hardness and strength, and when I see that strength represented in the essence of metallic sculptures, but with this new collection I want to do the opposite, something even more complex, which is to endow it with sensitivity and fool the viewer by showing a sculpture made of hard, resistant steel that looks like silk, that seems a delicate and elegant piece, simple and subtle yet visually powerful.

These are stainless steel pieces finished in reliefs, with meticulous attention given to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to create a mind trick in the viewer as a trompe-l’oeil.

They are forged pieces with utmost care, in an idyllic setting, in full connection with steel and art. They are born with the sound of every crease, of strength and delicacy, and from there the movements—seemingly wrinkled and open—flow in their notes.

I am drawn to artisanal and groundbreaking designs, so with these vertical, wall-hanging sculptures I aim to become part of a new reality where I seek color, texture and sinuous forms. Who would say this is steel? These sculptures, with a magically wrinkled appearance, make me revere this primitive material, for it makes everything possible, with no limits to creation or creativity. Even steel can look as light as silk.

The piece plays with a mirror-like effect so that light bounces and creates spectacular plays of light and shadow, forming a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.

Hangs easily like a painting.

José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been shown nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy and France. Through each of his pieces, he strives to bring to light the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the conversion of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings.
