Medsan Geisha DJ (芸者DJ) — Hand Signed, a 40 × 40 cm limited edition giclée from 2026, mounted on a wooden cradle with the artist’s cartouche signature.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, Medsan orchestrates a visual and sonic encounter between the refinement of Edo-era Japan and contemporary electronic music culture. This giclée features a serene geisha seated on a sumptuous cushion with gilded floral patterns, wearing an elegant violet kimono richly adorned with interlaced gold dragons.
The visual clash and the ingenuity of the composition lie in the musician's anachronistic equipment. She wears a large, golden studio headset, whose cups are engraved with traditional wave motifs (seigaiha). In front of her rests a surreal hybrid instrument: a wooden console integrating two turntables and a mixing desk, extended at its end by the neck and pegs of a traditional Japanese string instrument. With one hand, she deftly adjusts the sliders, while the other holds a slender cigarette from which stylized wisps of smoke rise, echoing those of a small incense burner (koro) placed on the floor to her left.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a deep, solid violet background, creating a chromatic harmony that perfectly complements the geisha's attire and makes the gilded elements stand out. The bold line and flat colors strictly follow the codes of ukiyo-e, bestowing this musical scene with a graphic, sophisticated pop-art aesthetic. The traditional vertical cartouche, placed here at the upper left, houses the artist's signature in katakana (メドサン) and completes this bridge between eras.
A conceptual piece, both aesthetic and decidedly modern, ideal for adding a pop, musical, and deeply offbeat touch to a design-conscious, contemporary interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both as collective creation and as individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a common artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
